February 9, 2019 Update

We had 20+ athletes show up & give it their all at our third session of the spring semester. A bunch of return athletes plus a new eval... The program continues to grow!

In addition, we were lucky to have a camera crew from @shrspitt come by to check out the program. Stay tuned over the next few months for a feature in Pitt SnapShots!

The beauty of this program is that it’s built for sustainability. We’ve been working on creating a structured leadership tier that provides opportunities for younger students to take on responsibility early on throughout the process which will help them take on larger leadership roles in the future.

As @jemakee & I approach potentially our last five sessions with this team, we’re lucky to have capable students gearing up to take our place. We’ve already started the transition process, & although there have been some growing pains, this program is set up to thrive moving into next Fall.

To aid in this process, we’re also hosting pre-session education sessions. Exercise prescription in general is a weakness of most physical therapy program so we’re taking the opportunity to dive into this topic further and provide mentorship to the younger class.

Today we covered Upper Quarter Exercise Considerations... discussing basic movement patterns, example exercised & the implications of various diagnoses in the training environment.
