Who am I?
I'm Charlie. I'm a son, a brother, a boyfriend, and an enormous fan of chicken wings. I grew up as a competitive swimmer in high school, and developed a mild obsession for all things strength and conditioning in college.
After spending 5 incredible years at Virginia Tech, I took a job as a physical therapy aide with OrthoVirginia while simultaneously working an internship at Strength and Performance Training, Inc. I transitioned to a full-time coaching position with SAPT before taking a job with Lifetime Fitness as a personal trainer. It was here I learned what it was like to train in a more corporate, structured environment - and met a ton of inspiring individuals along the way. I'll never forget my clients at Lifetime and hope they understand how important they were in my development!
Currently, I'm attending the University of Pittsburgh to get my Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy. I train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and work as a Strength Coach at Stout Training Pittsburgh down in the Strip District. My goal is to work as an orthopaedic therapist who specializes in Return-to-Sport Training, Sports Performance & Development, and Spinal & Lower Extremity Dysfunctions
After graduate school, I plan on pursuing a physical therapy residency in Sports Medicine and showing the world the importance of taking care of your body, both physically and mentally. I strongly believe in the role of the physical therapist in the health industry and hope to eventually play a part in expanding that role.
Why do I have a website?
Honestly, that's a very good question. This website/blog/utterly-minuscule-blip-in-the-interwebs will serve as a harbor for my thoughts, feelings, and possibly even my work. It will be a place where I can reflect and grow... and hopefully my readers will grow with me.
Comments and Criticisms are always welcome.
